Pickleball Ranking System
Challenge. Compete. Climb.
Most pickleball players have no idea how they stack up against others outside their usual playing group. UpLaddr fixes that with an ELO-based ranking system designed for local competitive play. Every match you play updates your rating, giving you an objective measure of your skill level. Challenge players near your rating for competitive games, or stretch yourself against higher-ranked opponents to improve faster.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the ELO system work for pickleball?
Each player starts with a base rating. When you play a match, the system calculates the expected outcome based on both players' ratings. If you beat a higher-rated player, you gain more points than if you beat a lower-rated one. Over time, ratings converge on each player's true skill level.
Is this the same as DUPR or UTPR?
UpLaddr is a separate, independent rating system focused on local ladder play. It's designed for ongoing competitive play within your community, not tournament results. Your UpLaddr rating reflects how you perform against your regular opponents.
How many matches does it take for my rating to stabilize?
Typically 10-15 matches give a reasonably accurate rating. The system uses K-factor 32, which means ratings adjust meaningfully with each match but stabilize over time.
Is UpLaddr free?
Yes — creating and joining ladders is completely free. No fees, no subscriptions required.
